Around 110 km from the heart of the Imphal city is the Indo-Myanmar border town- Moreh, which is just a few steps away from the Manipuri shopper’s destination-Namphalong market. Situated just on the Indo-Myanmar border, Namphalong has offer its shoppers a wide range of goods , ranging from stylish clothing wear to shoes and bags, household crockery to electronic gadgets, sweets to soaps...all at reasonable prices. The products sold are made in Myanmar or Thailand or China, of which Thai products are the best in my opinion. So, if you are planning to puff out the shopaholic in you, here are some of my tips to puff out smart.

·      1.You can shop in INDIAN CURRENCY, no need to shop in KYATs

·       2.LANGUAGE:

  Language spoken are Manipuri, Burmese, Hindi and English. But the order      of preference is  Burmese> Manipuri>Hindi>English.

·       3.Bargain, but not like Pallika’s

Here bargain is not like that in Pallika Bazaar(Delhi), but means giving your price tag maximum of Rs.100 to 150 less than the said tag. Sometimes you may even get only Rs.20 off :P

·      4.Remark:Rs 50==1000Kyats

·      5.SELECT THE MIT!!

So, try to buy those product that are MADE IN THAILAND as they are the best from my point of view.

·      6.SOMETHING SPECIAL:

If you are looking for something special, Happy Baby Store is the right choice if you don’t like hunting in the market.

·      7.ELECTRONIC GOODS:

Before you pay, don’t forget to get it tested.

·      8.OPENS FROM 7A.M. TO 3 P.M. (IST):

Be careful about the closing time, as you might be wandering for the goods!!!

The more you explore the market, the variety you will see. So, go in and around the corners to get the best stuffs.

·      11.FOODIES GUIDE:

For foodies, there are a number of Myanmar Restaurants that serves variety of delicious Myanmar cuisine at back of the market. So, since you have come a long way, trying out a foreign dish is a must do!!

·      12.PAY FOR WHAT YOU EAT:

When you take a table in a restaurant, you might get water bottles, juice cans, cakes or muffins surprisingly when you didn’t order, so just chill down, take those that you like and you got to pay only for that. That’s their rule!!!

·      13.HAVE ENOUGH MONEY IN YOUR WALLET!!!

Namphalong  is a place where you don’t know when you get your wallet empty!!! So ,bring a lot of  money !!!
